The Elder Futhark Runes - Salem Witches Ball 2023

If you are visiting this page for the first time, chances are you received one of our hand-cast Elder Futhark runes at the Salem Witches Ball 2023.  Congratulations!  Many of you might know all about the ancient Nordic Runes and languages, and some of you might know little to nothing at all.  Let's start there....

The Elder Futhark (or Fuþark), also known as the Older Futhark, Old Futhark, or Germanic Futhark, is the oldest form of the runic alphabets. It was a writing system used by Germanic peoples for Northwest Germanic dialects in the Migration Period. Inscriptions are found on artifacts including jewelry, amulets, plateware, tools, and weapons, as well as runestones in Scandinavia, from the 2nd to the 10th centuries.

In Scandinavia, beginning in the late 8th century, the script was simplified to the Younger Futhark, while the Anglo-Saxons and Frisians instead extended it, giving rise to the Anglo-Saxon futhorc. Both the Anglo-Saxon futhorc and the Younger Futhark remained in use during the Early and the High Middle Ages respectively, but knowledge of how to read the Elder Futhark was forgotten until 1865, when it was deciphered by Norwegian scholar Sophus Bugge.

Now as for why you received the specific rune you did, remember that WORDS HAVE POWER.  We suggest you give serious thought to where you are in your life, where you want to be, and meditate on the single strongest message that comes from your rune.  Set your intention and work your magic!  An entire rune set can be used for deeper searches into the future, past, and all that is currently "unknown."
