I guess we're just slow on the uptake because, even though Better Life cleaning products are nationally distributed right here from our back door in St. Louis, we just discovered them. AND WE HAVE TO SHARE. They smell good, clean well and are environmentally safe. Don't know how we overlooked them up to this point, but our cleaning pantry will never miss them again. They also have one of the best slogans around: "Clean Happens." Thanks for the fantastic product! Try them, everyone.
Oh, Boy! Look what we recently found from Rainwater Terrace out of England. As they say, no longer do we have to shamefully hide our rainwater catching devices behind our garage or potting shed. This is beautiful, clever design if we've ever seen it. Now how do we subtly let our neighbors know about it?
Rainwater Terrace® is a new multi award winning concept in rainwater collection promoting the reuse of valuable rainwater and “grow your own” sustainability. The unique patented modular design has numerous desirable advantages over other rainwater collection products available on the market (see below). Rainwater Terrace® not only saves the householder money by reusing rainwater in the garden, its modular design incorporates an integrated plant growing system enabling plants and herbs etc. to grow alongside the stored rainwater, creating an attractive addition to any home. It’s unique through flow system ensures that with every rainfall the unit is replenished with fresh water reducing the build-up of stagnant water - No longer do you have to hide your rainwater storage unit behind the shed!
Hat's off to Annie Haven and her Authentic Haven Brand Manure Tea. Will have an order in for next spring for sure, and wish we'd found this sooner. We're sold. It just makes so much sense!
From the home page of her website:
"Love and Respect for the Land by Thyme Square Gardens, I’m talking about Composted Manure that is free of antibiotics, growth hormones, GMO/GE feed, herbicide and pesticide free. This stuff is not easy to come by these days!" AGREED - Green Earth Art Company.
This really works! We used cut off tops of carrots and parsnips to regrow the greens again and again. They make delicious, unexpected salad toppers and are great sources of more dense green nutrition in our diets.

Each year we start our miniature city food garden with the caring help of local growers like Mitchell's Farms at St. Louis' World famous Soulard Market, founded in 1795. Mitchell's Farms, based in Southwest Missouri near the Arkansas border, offers the best of organic herb starts, bountiful flowers, assorted succulents and the finest of Midwestern know-how and hospitality. This family-run business with reps from several of its generations can be found at booths #33-34 in the Northeast Wing of Soulard Market. Be sure to ask for growing tips, because they're full of farmer wisdom!
And bustling Soulard Market definitely has had its own appeal for more than two centuries. Think of it: built just after the Revolutionary War in St. Louis, Missouri!
